Who We Are

The West Alabama Trauma Resource Network (TRN) is an association of licensed therapists, committed to helping First Responders and Law Enforcement heal after a natural disaster or other significant trauma-producing event.

Our therapists are community based providers willing to meet community needs in the form of supporting first responders. Our goal is to provide several sessions for relief after a natural disaster. The interventions we use can be tailored to fit both individual and group needs. Research has shown the majority experience significant relief after one session and show no signs of worsening symptoms.

As therapists, we use a trauma therapy to lower possible symptoms such as:

· Excessive Worry and Anxiety

· Difficulty Concentrating

· Difficulty with Memory

· Irritability

· Flashbacks

· Difficulty Falling or Staying Asleep

· Nightmares

· Intrusive Memories

· Nausea

· Loss of Appetite or Binge Eating

· Dissociation

Who We Serve

Law Enforcement

Law Enforcement face significant challenges on the job that can lead to PTSD and other mental health issues. A vital aspect of law enforcement is responding healthily to critical incidents that contribute to the safety of society. Left untreated, PTSD can have a negative impact on critical making that most officers face daily.

Fire Fighters

Occupational hazards of firefighting and rescue work include frequent subjection to emergency situations while also being exposed to high temperatures and intense physical stress. Some studies indicate that PTSD symptoms in firefighters can even exceed that of individuals in the military workforce.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

Whether ambulance drivers or paramedics, many EMS workers experience acute stress due to reoccurring exposure to traumatic events during daily routine work. In fact, the prevalence of PTSD may exceed that of Firefighters or Law Enforcement. Chronic demand for their services may be greater than that of other emergency workers.
